About 30 years ago, I read Peter Mayle's A Year In Provence, which was at that time a bestseller, and whilst I enjoyed it I conceitedly thought I could do better, like most people, that was just a fleeting thought, even if it was more. I, realistically, did not have the time or the inclinationthe Pandemic epidemic gave me that time. Imagine my surprise and emotion when I was looking for a publisher to receive a comment from a Californian Editor, Hudson Perigo, I really enjoyed those 2 chapters and found your story charming and uplifting and reminded me of Mayle's "A Year In Provence". She was introduced to me by a friend of my wife's in New York who worked in the publishing business. At that time, I did not have a manuscript and on learning that Austin Macauley was putting one together, she advised me to stay with them and see what happened. Fortunately, they agreed to publish it.
